Young investigators play a critical role in driving change within the research landscape. The CIFAR Global Academy enables exceptional early career researchers from across Canada, and around the world, to engage with our networks, develop their leadership skills and act as catalysts for change beyond their academic environment.
Global Academy activities span a wide range of initiatives and engage young scholars at all levels – graduate, postdoctoral, assistant professor. The Global Academy leverages the inherent energy, enthusiasm and ability of young researchers to take a fresh look at problems and gives them the skills and opportunities to become tomorrow’s research leaders.
Tomorrow’s research leaders will play an important role in addressing the complex challenges facing humanity by transcending disciplinary boundaries. The most exciting research questions will require scholars who can move beyond their own research areas and take a fresh look at a problem. CIFAR is helping our early career researchers think and work outside their silos.
Leadership Skills Development
Tomorrow’s research leaders will face all the demands and competitive realities that their academic careers encompass by developing key management and communication skills. These early years provide a unique opportunity to form the foundation of their leadership approach in years to come. CIFAR is helping this promising group of young researchers develop the skill set they will need to succeed.
Engagement in Global Communities
Tomorrow’s research leaders must understand how to engage with key stakeholders in their communities around the world, whether it be with government, industry or the general public. To do this, early career researchers need opportunities to refine the skills they develop and interact with leaders both within and outside of academia.
CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars
The CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars program provides unique opportunities for early career researchers to build networks and develop essential skills to become the next generation of research leaders. Researchers within the first five years of an academic position from anywhere in the world are eligible to apply.
